There are a number of features we have incorporated into the design and implementation of this website that will improve the experience of people with disabilities.
Font Resizing
On each webpage you will see Font Size icons in the upper right portion of the page. The icons look like this:
To increase the font size press the “
+” and to decrease the font size press the "
–".
To increase the font size further than these icons will allow press "Ctrl" and "+" on your keyboard:
To decrease the font size further, press "Ctrl" and "–" .
Screen Reader Support
Users with very low or no vision, may use screen reader software (such as JAWs by Freedom Scientific), which will convert website text to audio. To make the most of our website screen reader capability we recommend you activate your browser’s accessibility settings (see below).
Keyboard Navigation
Users who are unable to use a mouse may navigate our website using a keyboard alone. To make the most of our website keyboard navigation functionality we advise that you activate your browser’s accessibility settings (see below).
Activating your Browser's Accessibility Settings
Internet Explorer:
- Launch Internet Explorer.
- From the menu choose Tools > Internet Options > Advanced
- Ensure that “Enable Caret Browsing for new windows and tabs” is checked.
Mozilla Firefox:
- Launch Mozilla Firefox.
- From the menu choose Tools > Options
- Ensure that all three checkboxes under “Accessibility” are checked.
Hearing Impaired?
For the hearing impaired we have provided text transcriptions of all audio and video files. These are identified by the following icon:
WCAG Conformance
It is our intention that all Ontario Shores' web pages satisfy all Priority 1 checkpoints of Conformance Level "A" of the WCAG 1.0 (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) and minimize Priority 2 checkpoint errors. The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines are published by the W3C, the World Wide Web Consortium.
