Dr. Saulo Castel
Dr. Saulo Castel holds degrees with both the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil and the University of Toronto. He is the Director of Medical Education and Research, as well as a staff psychiatrist at Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences (Ontario Shores). In addition to these duties, he is the Director of Inpatient Services for the Department of Psychiatry at Sunnybrook, an Assistant Professor for the Department of Psychiatry, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto, and an Associate Scientist in the Brain Sciences Program, Discipline of Clinical Epidemiology at Sunnybrook Hospital. Dr. Castel also holds the positions of Core Faculty Member at the University of Toronto’s Centre for Patient Safety, Faculty of Medicine, Research Associate for the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), Health Systems Research and Consulting Unit, and Associate Staff for the University Health Network, Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Castel’s extensive involvement with research institutions has led to a wide variety of ongoing research projects. His current initiatives within Ontario Shores include a Canadian Patient Safety Institute funded project called “Exploration of Near Misses in Mental Health Settings”, as well as a study titled Mark “Achieving reliable GAF scores through active training”.
