Ontario Shores employs more than 500 nurses, including registered nurses, registered practical nurses and advanced practice nurses, who work together in collaboration with the interprofessional team to provide patients with specialized mental health care.
Guided by the Canadian Standards for Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing, Ontario Shores Standards of Care and our Nursing Strategic Plan, our nurses work with patients through the four components of our Collaborative Recovery Model:

Ontario Shores has designed on-site education to support and promote safe, ethical care and evidence-based practice. Education initiatives include Leadership Development, Preceptorship, Collaborative Recovery Model and how it is integrated at Ontario Shores, Psychopharmacology, Mental Health - Nursing and Relationship Management through the Crisis Continuum.
Financial support is available for registered nurses who aspire toward Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing certification or formal education advancement. We are developing tuition reimbursement programs which will support nurses in their quest for educational excellence.
Nurses at Ontario Shores can specialize in a number inpatient and outpatient areas including Adolescents, Dual Diagnosis, Assessment and Reintegration, Forensics, Neuropsychiatry and Seniors Mental Health.
