On Saturday, May 6 Ontario Shores will once again participate in Doors Open Whitby, an event which showcases historical buildings and organizations with a rich history in the community.

Aside from offering organized tours and free parking to Doors Open visitors throughout the day, Ontario Shores will be making a special announcement in the Main Lobby of Building 5, Level 2 regarding an upcoming event.

At 2 p.m. on Saturday, Ontario Shores will announce the lineup for the 2017 Imagine Festival for Mental Health, which will be held at the Regent Theatre in Oshawa on Friday, October 27.

The announcement will also feature an interview with a special guest, who has a personal connection to mental health and will be the opening act at this year’s Imagine Festival.

Over the years the Imagine Festival has featured a number of artists with a connection to mental health such as Serena Ryder, Spirit of the West and Chantal Kreviazuk. The music and the message of hope helps create awareness and eliminate stigma associated with mental illness.

In 2016, The Stellas featuring daughters Lennon & Maisy brought the house down in a homecoming of sorts. Originally from the Durham Region and now living in Nashville, the family visited Ontario Shores before hitting the stage and performing in front family and friends, both old and new.

Opening for The Stellas was Juno-winning singer/songwriter Amelia Curran, who is also a mental health advocate back in her native Newfoundland.

It’s sure to be another memorable year in what will our 10th annual Imagine Festival.

Doors Open at Ontario Shores gets underway at 10 a.m. on Saturday and runs through to 4 p.m.  Everyone is welcome to visit Ontario Shores and attend the special announcement and guest interview.
