Dan Carter, Chair
Dan Carter is an executive producer and television talk show host for CHANNEL 12 - CHEX TV Durham, a businessman, author and professional speaker. Very active in the community, Dan volunteers at or participates in many charitable events. He has a very personal interest in promoting mental health, especially with youth. Dan has taken action on this interest by founding The Hope Centre of Learning, a space for seniors and youth experiencing mental illness and other challenges, which offers day-time and after-school programs and a friendly and supportive environment. He has initiated the Day of Hope and Leadership, a professional development program for business, government, service agencies, and community members, educating, inspiring and motivating them to help those less fortunate in their community. He has created The Isobel Carter Youth Award, to recognize children and youth from Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, Oshawa and Clarington who demonstrate compassion and leadership. He is also the author of "It's the Right Time Now" an inspiring account of his own journey of recovery. |

Sharon Baker, Vice-Chair
Sharon Baker is an experienced leader and decision maker in governance and management, having worked for more than 15 years in the health care sector in senior management positions and as a consultant through her firm, wellSpring consulting. She is currently Chief Corporate Affairs and Chief Financial Officer for the Ontario Association of Community Care Access Centres. Previously, Sharon was Interim Executive Director, Local Health Integration Network Shared Services Office and VP, Corporate Services and CFO at the Ontario Hospitals Association. Through wellSpring, Sharon has provided interim executive and advisory services in strategic management and operational execution in a shared services environment. Sharon has served on a number of Boards and Committees, including Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences, and Scientists in School. |

Jean Achmatowicz MacLeod, C.M., Director
Jean Achmatowicz MacLeod has been a volunteer locally, provincially and federally for many years. She has served on many boards; most recently, she was the Chair of the Board of Governors of the Oshawa General Hospital; Board member of the Oshawa General Hospital Foundation; a founding Board member of Lakeridge Health Corporation; Chair of the Central East Mental Health Implementation Task Force; an inaugural member and subsequently Chair of the Community Advisory Board of the Ontario Provincial Psychiatric Hospital, Whitby (now Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences). On June 1, 2011 Jean completed a six-year term on the Board of the Central East Local Health Integration Network. She was appointed a Commissioner of Oshawa Harbour by the Federal Government. Jean has received several awards, most recently the Order of Canada, presented by the Governor General in recognition of her outstanding volunteer service to Canada.

Dr. Ian Dawe, Ex-officio Director
Dr. Ian Dawe is the Physician-in-Chief at Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences (Ontario Shores) and provides leadership for medical professional practice and champions the quality and safety of medical practice and care. He is actively engaged in patient care and academic activities at Ontario Shores, and is a teacher in the Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Continuing and Public Education programs of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto. Dr. Dawe joined Ontario Shores from St. Michael’s Hospital where he was the Medical Director of the Psychiatric Emergency Service and a Research Associate, and the Chair in Suicide Studies at the University of Toronto. He is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry and was the Head of the General Psychiatry Division, Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto from 2003 through 2011. Dr. Dawe completed medical school at Memorial University of Newfoundland, and from the University of Toronto, achieved a residency in psychiatry, two years of fellowship training and a Masters degree in Health Administration.

Michael Ewles, Director
Michael Ewles was named Chief of Police of the Durham Regional Police Service in 2007. He now leads a force of over 800 police officers and 300 civilian staff – the 10th largest municipal police service in Canada. During his 27 years with DRPS, Michael has worked in every community in the Region and has served in tactical support, criminal intelligence and employee services, among other areas. He is an active member of the community both professionally and personally. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Abilities Centre and a former member of the Durham Mental Health Services. Under his leadership, the DRPS partnered with DMHS to launch an innovative and collaborative mental health response team in Durham Region that partners a mental health nurse, a plain-clothes police officer and support crisis staff. Michael has been very supportive of Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences’ outreach initiatives to the community. |

Gary Hassard, Director
A chartered accountant, Gary Hassard is a senior executive with significant experience in all aspects of corporate finance and corporate restructuring. Gary stepped down as the National Managing Director of the Corporate Finance and Investment Banking practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers Corporate Finance Inc. in 2002 to pursue other business opportunities. During his career, Gary gained extensive experience in advising each of the major Chartered Banks in Canada and other Canadian and International Financial Institutions on their loan portfolios and has also acted on behalf of numerous retailers and distributors to arrange and obtain custom solutions for their operational financing requirements. Gary served as Chairman of the Ontario Division of the Canadian National Institute for the Blind’s fundraising campaign. |

Jim Irving, Director
Jim Irving was formerly the Executive Business Director for Johnson & Johnson Medical Companies, and thoroughly enjoyed a career with Johnson & Johnson spanning 30 years. He was responsible for executive-level relationships with key hospitals and related industry/government associations. As well, he led responsibility for all nursing support initiatives on behalf of Johnson & Johnson. Jim's community responsibilities have included positions with The Canadian Nursing Foundation and The Bob Rumball Association for the Deaf, as well as his ongoing support of his local community hospital. |

Michael Nettleton, Ex-officio Director
Michael Nettleton is the Chair of the Board of Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences and has been a Board Member at Ontario Shores since 2008. He has also served as chair of the Board’s Finance and Quality Committee since 2009. Mr. Nettleton is a Partner with Stevenson Kellogg. He is a Certified Management Consultant with more than 25 years of experience in mobilizing and managing change, process innovation and information technology. As Chair of the Board, Mr. Nettleton brings extensive leadership experience from public and not-for-profit organizations in Ontario, particularly in the health, social service, education and municipal sectors, as well as manufacturing industries. Mr. Nettleton is a passionate community leader with voluntary service spanning more than 30 years. He has long-term experience with several agency and advisory boards and associated committees. He also administers the self-help community SPALS.com, which has supported thousands of bereaved families since 1995.

Michael O’Connor, Director
Michael O’Connor is Co-Founder of WIND Mobile, a fast growing Canadian wireless consumer with a successful history of over 10 years in Europe. After beginning his career at the Economic Council of Canada/School of Policy Studies Queens University, Michael became the Director for the Center for Economic and Financial Analysis at Science Applications International Corporation, one of the largest consultancies in the United States. In 1999 he joined Orascom Telecom (in Egypt), majority shareholder of WIND, as a founding Executive and led business development efforts there for ten years. Michael returned to Canada as a co-founder of WIND Mobile as a leader in business development and corporate strategies. Always involved in entrepreneurial activities and with a broad range of interests, Michael has also undertaken executive producer roles in film and music and serves on many boards, including WIND Mobile. Michael grew up in Peterborough, Ontario and after many years abroad is pleased to have recently re-located to his hometown and looks forward to giving back to his community. |

Glenna Raymond, Ex-officio Director
Glenna Raymond is President and CEO of Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences. Glenna joined the organization in December 2005 and was instrumental in leading the efforts and process to establish Ontario Shores as a public stand-alone hospital following the government’s divestment of Ontario Shores to a community-based Board of Directors. Glenna is a Certified Health Executive with more than 20 years of experience as a leader, administrator, clinician and instructor in public healthcare. Her career history includes executive roles at The Scarborough Hospital in patient services, human resources and psychiatry. She has also been an instructor and Board Chair at Centennial College, and has consulted to hospitals in the US and China. She has contributed extensively to professional associations and Ontario healthcare, including system leadership during the SARS emergency. At an early stage in her career, she worked at Whitby Psychiatric Hospital and Queen Street Mental Health Centre. |

Robert Wordham, Director
Robert Wordham is a seasoned professional manager, business entrepreneur, and retired Professional Engineer. From 1961 to 1988 Bob held positions from sales and marketing to senior management multinational companies such as Rolls Royce, General Electric, Sandvik and Neill Tools. In 1988 he established Wordham International Inc., a consultancy specializing in business and market development with clients in Canada, United States and Great Britain. Clients have included the Government of Canada, the US federal Government and the State of New York and contracts have included “turn-around” and expansion projects including ownership with metal-rolling and medical devices businesses. He is currently consulting to small start-up companies. In addition to his volunteer role with Ontario Shores Foundation for Mental Health, Bob also volunteers with The Community Foundation of Mississauga, and the CIBC Run for the Cure of Breast cancer.
