Ambassadors of Hope - Role Overview

On October 23, 2019, Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences (Ontario Shores) will celebrate its 100th anniversary as an organization dedicated to helping people living with mental illness.

This milestone is an opportunity to recognize our past, celebrate recent achievements and share its vision for the future of mental health care by advancing conversations about Ontario Shores and those impacted by mental illness.

To assist us on this journey we are seeking volunteers to serve as Ambassadors of Hope to support activities prior to and following October 23, 2019, the day Ontario Shores officially reaches the century mark.

Ambassadors of Hope will assist in the promotion of events, initiatives, and campaigns associated with the 100 year anniversary of Ontario Shores.

Anyone can be an Ambassador of Hope. Nominations are open to the public.

Opportunities

Ambassadors of Hope will have the opportunity to:

  • Represent Ontario Shores by attending both internal and external events leading up to the organization’s 100 year anniversary.
  • Speak on behalf of Ontario Shores and the 100 Year Anniversary Steering Committee to promote the 100 Year Anniversary events, initiatives, and campaign.
  • Engage Ontario Shores’ network and one’s personal network, including social media network, to gain external and internal participation from stakeholders in the events leading up to the organization’s 100 year anniversary.
  • Be an integral part of the 100 year anniversary events and initiatives.
  • Spread the message about Ontario Shores’ vision, core values, and good work leading up to the organization’s 100 year anniversary.

Duration and Time Commitment

Ambassadors of Hope will be named in August 2018 and will serve in that capacity until November 2019.

The anticipated time commitment required of each Ambassador will range between 5 to 10 hours each month.

Benefits to Being an Ambassador of Hope

The benefit to being an Ambassador of Hope is that you will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop or enhance your abilities around mental health advocacy.
  • Build your personal or professional profile within the community.
  • Enrich your network within the healthcare community, GTA, and Durham Region.
  • Be an integral part of the 100 year anniversary events and initiatives.

Qualities of an Ambassador of Hope

Those selected to be an Ambassador of Hope and represent Ontario Shores will be:

  • Passionate about mental health.
  • Comfortable attending events, posing for photographs and conducting interviews.
  • Interested in enhancing or developing social media skills.
  • Willing to develop as a public speaker.
