Dual Diagnosis Services

Dual diagnosis refers to an individual with an intellectual disability who may have a psychiatric disorder and/or challenging behaviour.

Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences (Ontario Shores) provides specialized services for dually dianosed adults. The program consists of a 10 bed inpatient unit as well as a psychiatric consultation service. 

Contemporary treatment includes the expertise of psychiatry, social work, nursing, behavioural, recreational and occupational therapy.

The Dual Diagnosis program is committed to a collaborative approach to treatment that is based on best practice and clinical research. Affiliated with the University of Toronto, the program offers teaching opportunities to a wide variety of professionals.
