CNA Certification - Preparatory Workshops

CNA certification is a voluntary, nationally recognized credential for registered nurses (RNs), and now registered practical nurses (RPNs), who meet specific nursing practice criteria, continuous learning and exam-based testing requirements (CNA, 2014).

Congratulations on taking this step in your professional development. Becoming CNA certified is one of the most positive and powerful achievements for a nursing professional. As a certified nurse, you will have:

To support you on your certification journey, Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences (Ontario Shores) has developed two-day CNA Certification Preparatory Workshops in Mental Health/Psychiatric Nursing and Gerontological Nursing specialties.

 

About the Workshops:

In the course of the preparatory online workshop, participants will:

  • Understand the structure of the CNA certification exam and be provided with strategies for successful studying for and writing the certification exam in both Mental Health/Psychiatric and Gerontological Nursing
  • Identify potential gaps in their knowledge of understanding as it relates to the competency areas covered in the exam
  • Gain a further understanding through facilitated presentations of competencies covered in both the Psychiatric/Mental Nursing and Gerontological certification exams through comprehensive nursing based review of major mental health diagnoses, psychopharmacology, the therapeutic relationship and therapeutic interventions with presentations facilitated by Ontario Shores psychiatrists, pharmacists and CPMH (C) and GNC(C) certified nurses. (Note: participants will also receive a link to workshop material)
  • Review practice exam questions and participate in group discussions
  • Learn from recent, successful CNA certified nurses who will share their experience and strategies for success

Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing Certification Workshop
When: September 28-29, 2023
Time: 8:30 a.m. - 4: 30 p.m.*

  • Ontario Shores employees - Complimentary Registration (no fee)
  • Non-Ontario Shores employees - $120.00 (+HST) Registration Fee
  • Materials Only option: Non-Ontario Shores Employees - $80.00 (+HST)
