Ontario Review Board

The Ontario Review Board (ORB) reviews or determines Dispositions concerning individuals Unfit to Stand Trial and those found Not Criminally Responsible (NCR) on account of mental illness.

ORB members are appointed by the Ontario Lieutenant Governor and include judges, lawyers, psychiatrists, psychologists and representatives from the public. Each Board has an Alternate Chair, usually a judge or a person qualified for federal appointment as a judge. The Chair can summon and enforce the attendance of witnesses who present evidence and produce documents under oath.
