Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences (Ontario Shores) is proud to announce it has been awarded an Order of Excellence from Excellence Canada for its commitment to wellness in the workplace.
Ontario Shores earned the Order of Excellence recognition following a review against the Mental Health at Work® Framework.
Excellence Canada, an independent, not-for-profit organization that is dedicated to advancing organizational performance across Canada, oversees a national recognition program that acknowledges organizations from all industries who demonstrate excellence in various standards or frameworks.
“We are absolutely thrilled to be recognized with the Order of Excellence for our implementation of the Mental Health at Work Framework,” notes Karim Mamdani, President and CEO, at Ontario Shores, a specialty mental health hospital in Whitby, Ontario. “This represents the culmination of a six-year journey to create and sustain a psychologically healthy and safe workplace.”
Excellence Canada visited Ontario Shores earlier this year to hold focus groups with the Senior Management Team, managers, direct service staff and teams to learn about the organization’s work in this area and how it aligns to Excellence Canada’s national framework.
In its evaluation, Excellence Canada highlighted Ontario Shores’ Integrated Wellness Program, Leadership Development Strategy, Innovation Fund Program, employee engagement activities and use of technology and platforms to share information and expertise with staff and external stakeholders.
Excellence Canada honoured organizations today at their 2021 virtual Performance Excellence Summit and Canada Awards for Excellence event.
“I am incredibly proud of our staff, the wellbeing programs we have implemented and the workplace culture we have collectively created so that Ontario Shores is both a great place to work and receive care,” says Mamdani.
Ontario Shores is one of two hospitals in Canada to have achieved this prestigious recognition.
