In preparation for the release of the hospital’s new Strategic Plan, Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences (Ontario Shores) is pleased to announce the appointment of three new members to its Senior Management Team.

Effective today, Ontario Shores officially welcomes Dawne Barbieri as Vice-President, Clinical Services and Research, Andrea Marshall as Chief of Communications and Patient Experience, and Vincci Tang as Chief Financial Officer.

To her role as Vice-President, Clinical Services and Research, Ms. Barbieri brings more than 30 years of tremendous healthcare experience working at several academic hospitals including William Osler Health System and North York General Hospital in various leadership roles.  She has led numerous programs throughout her career including Research, Interprofessional Practice, Quality, Organizational Development, and Patient Services.  She has also fulfilled interim executive roles for Ontario Shores including Interim Vice President, Practice and Academics, Chief Nursing Executive.

“I am thrilled to join Ontario Shores in this role,” says Dawne Barbieri.  “Ontario Shores is a special place with a unique culture where staff care deeply about each other and their patients.  I am excited about the work we can do together and the advances we can make in the areas of patient care, research and innovation.”

As Chief of Communications and Patient Experience, Ms. Marshall will lead the organization in two critical areas as we continue our work in creating and maintaining a patient-centred environment free of stigma and shame. She has been with Ontario Shores for almost 15 years, holding progressive leadership roles and responsibilities throughout her tenure including Communications and Public Affairs, the Centre of Education and Organizational Development, Volunteer Services and Spiritual Care.  She successfully led the hospital’s journey with Excellence Canada to achieve the Order of Excellence for the implementation of the Mental Health at Work Framework, co-led the development of two Strategic Plans and refreshed our Patient and Family Councils.

“Ontario Shores is a place that feels like home. I am excited about this opportunity and the ways in which I can meaningfully contribute to the hospital in this new role.  I look forward to my ongoing collaboration with leaders, teams, volunteers, patients and families to make Ontario Shores the best place to work and receive care,” says Andrea Marshall.

Ms. Tang joined Ontario Shores nine years ago, and she too has assumed progressive leadership roles with responsibilities for Information Management, Data and Analytics, Purchasing, Finance and Payroll.  She has also overseen a number of Corporate Action Plans and initiatives, Information Technology infrastructure advancements, co-led the organization’s achievement and successful revalidation of the HIMSS Analytics EMRAM Stage 7, the HIMSS Davies Awards in the utilization of health information technology to substantially improve patient outcomes and value, and the most recent HIMSS Adoption Model for Analytics Maturity (AMAM) Stage 6.  As Chief Financial Officer, Vincci will identify opportunities to leverage data and technology to drive innovation while ensuring the organization continues to be fiscally responsible to its stakeholders.

“As an analytical thinker, I am eager to see how we can continue to leverage our data and technology systems, in partnership with our staff and the broader community, to advance care for our patients. I am happy to join this strong team and develop systematic approaches to how we can achieve our shared goals,” says Vincci Tang.

Ontario Shores will be releasing its new 2022 - 2026 Strategic Plan in June.  It is an ambitious plan with lofty goals that will require the collective power of everyone at and connected to Ontario Shores to put strategy into action to advance the mental health care system.

“I am pleased to welcome Dawne, Andrea and Vincci to the Senior Management Team,” says Karim Mamdani, President and CEO.  “They each bring a unique set of experiences and expertise that will both complement the team and help drive our success as an organization.”

Their roles take effect Monday, May 30, 2022.
