Have you or someone you know recently been diagnosed with early onset dementia or mild cognitive impairment?
Researchers at Ontario Shores and University of Waterloo are conducting focus groups to understand the experiences of people who develop early onset dementia or mild cognitive impairments while in the workforce. You will be asked to take part in one focus group for approximately 1.5-2 hours.
We would like to learn about the types of challenges and solutions people have after being diagnosed with early onset dementia or mild cognitive impairment. We will explore the type of learning approaches and problem-solving strategies each person develops in order to adapt and manage working with cognitive impairment. We are also interested in learning about the regulations and policies available at different companies for persons with cognitive impairments. We will also explore the role of technology in providing assistance to persons with cognitive impairments in order to continue with meaningful employment.
You are invited to participate if you:
Were recently diagnosed with early onset dementia or mild cognitive impairment and are currently working or recently retired;
Are a family member, friend, or co-worker of someone who was recently diagnosed and is participating in the study, and have been approved by them to take part;
Are an employer and have worked with someone who has been diagnosed with early onset dementia or mild cognitive impairment; or
Influence company policies and work adjustments for those affected by early onset dementia or mild cognitive impairment.
You will be eligible to receive reimbursement for transportation or parking expenses incurred while taking part in the focus group.
