Planning a Visit

We are looking forward to seeing you on your next visit. Plan ahead and make the most of your time on the unit. If you have any questions don't hesitate to contact the unit team.

COVID-19 Protocols

Please see our COVID-19 Updates page for all related protocols.

Visiting Hours

It can be helpful to contact the team ahead of time to ensure your loved one is available for your planned visit or to make accommodations in their schedule. See the visiting hours by unit

Tobacco-Free (Effective January 10, 2022)

Ontario Shores is dedicated to promoting the safety and well-being of patients, employees, and visitors by raising awareness of the harmful impact of tobacco use and by eliminating second-hand smoke exposure and triggers. Effective January 10, 2021, tobacco, cannabis, and the use of electronic cigarettes (vaping) will not be permitted to be used or visible on Ontario Shores property, including parking lots and walking pathways.

Please see the property map for a breakdown of tobacco-free areas:

Scent-Free

Please refrain from wearing or using scented personal products while at Ontario Shores. Scented products contain chemicals that can cause serious problems for people with asthma, allergies, migraines, and other health conditions. Aftershave lotion, hairsprays, perfume, cologne, or other scented personal products may contain these chemicals.

Parking

Parking payment machines are available at each entrance. Have your license plate handy so that you can enter it into the machine. Visit our parking web page for more information.

Guest Wifi

Guests of Ontario Shores have access to wireless internet (wifi) by connecting to the Ontario Shores Guest network.  Learn more.

What you can bring

  • activities your loved one enjoys (playing cards, books)
  • music
  • unframed photos, photobooks or memory boxes
  • preferred toiletries
  • food (check with staff regarding any dietary restrictions or choking risk. Do not share food with others on the unit for risk of swallowing difficulties or allergies.)

When you bring items onto the unit ensure you check-in with a member of the team to review these items.

On the Unit

In order to maintain patients' privacy and visitors' safety we do not typically permit visitors in patient bedrooms or hallways. There are several other places to visit on the unit such as the visitors room by the main door, and the activity room. During warmer months you may like to access our outdoor spaces.

Off the Unit

We also encourage you to visit with your loved one off the unit if your loved one is permitted. A wheelchair can be provided to ensure safety and comfort for both you and your loved one when visiting off the unit.
