Joint Research Ethics Board (JREB)

All research conducted by researchers within Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences (Ontario Shores) and Abilities Centre requires approval by the Joint Research Ethics Board (JREB). The JREB is responsible for overseeing all research studies, ensuring high scientific and ethical merit and monitoring current research studies. 
 
The JREB is guided by the fundamental basic value of "Respect for Human Dignity". Respect for human dignity is expressed through the following three core ethical principles which are reflected in the Tri-Council Policy Statement (TCPS-2, 2022):

  • Respect for Persons
  • Concern for Welfare
  • Justice
