Community Services / Groups

  • COPE Mental Health Program: (905) 905-666-0689 (Oshawa branch)          
    Various Branches. Groups include things like: Anxiety and Depression Support, Anxiety and Stress Management, Mood Mastery, Wellness for Women/Men, Coping with Bipolar Disorder, Social Recreation, and Bereavement Support.
  • Adult Integrated Mental Health Services (AIMHS) (Formerly INTERACT Program) – (905) 576-8711  ext. 6029
    Located in Whitby; a program of Lakeridge Health. Groups include things like: time-limited psychotherapy, CBT, anxiety management, OCD group, relaxation training, anger management, mindfulness-based stress reduction. Referral required or self-referral in person.
  • Durham Mental Health Services - (905) 666-2976
    Has Community Support and Resource groups in Ajax, Oshawa, Whitby. Topics: assertiveness, coping, medication management, physical health/nutrition, social skills, budgeting. Day program & peer support groups also offered. Registration/referral required.
  • CAREA Community Health Centre – (905) 723-0036 
    Located in Oshawa. Groups include things like: Psychotherapy; Wellness; Body Beautiful; Artscape; Challenge, Change and Choices, Transgender Journey. Self referral.
  • Oshawa Psychological & Counselling Services (low fee and sliding scale offered with interns) (905) 721-7723; 1-866-568-947
  • Mood Disorders Association of Ontario Support Line (Mon-Fri, 9:30-5:00)    1-888-486-8236
  • Anxiety Canada
    Provides cognitive behavior therapy approaches for managing anxiety, and with sleep hygiene tips. The website has also expanded to include agoraphobia tools, and my anxiety plan templates.
