Geriatric Mental Health Clinic

The Geriatric Mental Health Clinic is for seniors aged 65 and older with a psychiatric concern that is either treatment resistant or complex in nature presenting with one or more of the following: behavioural changes, mood changes, anxiety or psychotic symptoms. 

Services we offer include: 

  • Specialized geriatric psychiatry consultations
  • Short-term psychiatric follow-up for treatment optimization
  • Evidence-based psychotherapy
  • Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) group treatment (12-week skill building group) for seniors struggling with symptoms of depression and anxiety. 

 

Age

For ages 65+

Inclusion Criteria
  • Aged 65+
  • Psychiatric concern that is either treatment resistant or complex in nature
  • Presenting with one or more of the following: behavioural changes, mood changes, anxiety or psychotic symptoms
  • Must be able to attend in-person community clinic appointments or have access to OTN
  • Must live in the Durham Region and require geriatric-specific care
Service Access

Referrals are accepted from specialists (psychiatrists, neurologists and geriatricians), family physicians and nurse practitioners. Referrals are accepted from within our primary service area.
