Suicide Prevention Workshops

Ontario Shores is proud to be partnering with LivingWorks to deliver suicide prevention workshops. These workshops are intended for anyone over the age of 15 who wants to be better equipped to help those living with suicidal thoughts and behaviours.  

ASIST and SafeTALK are two internationally recognized and certified suicide prevention training workshops created by LivingWorks and delivered through Ontario Shores by our highly trained and qualified mental health professionals. Read below to learn more about which course is right for you.

safeTALK – 3.5 hours In-Person

This half-day interactive workshop features a combination powerful presentations, audiovisuals, and skills practice sessions. In this workshop you’ll learn how to prevent suicide by recognizing signs, engaging someone, and connecting them to an intervention resource for further support. A skilled, supportive trainer will guide you through the course, and a community resource will be on hand to support your safety and comfort.

Your Training Includes:

  •  Internationally recognized certificate from LivingWorks
  • Presentations and guidance from a LivingWorks registered trainer
  • 30 page take away manual with additional resources & wallet card
  • Community resource professional in the classroom 
  • Hands-on skills practice and development
  • Light refreshments and snack

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) – 2 days In-Person

ASIST trains participants how to intervene and help prevent the immediate risk of suicide through powerful audiovisuals, discussions, and practice simulations.

In an ASIST workshop, you'll learn how to prevent suicide by recognizing signs, providing a skilled intervention, and developing a safety plan to keep someone alive. This training is ideal for first responders, teachers, HR professionals, and anyone who works with vulnerable populations needing an immediate suicide intervention.

Two knowledgeable, supportive trainers will guide you through the course, ensuring your comfort and safety.

Your Training Includes:

  •  Internationally recognized Certificate from LivingWorks
  • Take away manual and wallet card reference guide
  • Presentations and guidance from two LivingWorks registered trainers
  • A scientifically proven intervention model PAL (Pathway to Assisting Life)
  • Powerful audiovisual learning aids
  • Group discussions
  • Skills practice and development (must feel comfortable engaging in role playing scenarios)
  • Courses held at Ontario Shores include lunch, refreshments, and parking for both days.

Cancellation Policy

Requests for cancellation must be made in writing to Christina Fuda (@email)
Where the registrant is unable to attend, and a registration fee was paid, then the following refund arrangements apply: 

  • Registrations cancelled more than 14 days before the event will be refunded the registration fee minus an administrative fee of $100.00. 
  • Registrations cancelled less than 14 days before the event will not be eligible for a refund. 

Ontario Shores reserves the right to cancel events.
Registrants will be notified at the earliest possible date in the event of a cancellation.
Registration fees for events cancelled by Ontario Shores will be refunded; however Ontario Shores will not be liable for any loss, damages or other expenses that such cancellations may cause. 

Refunds: For payments received by credit cards, the same credit card will be refunded.
