In recognition of Bell Let’s Talk Day and its 2023 theme of ‘Let’s Change This’, Dr. Phil Klassen, VP of Medical Affairs at Ontario Shores, and John Henry, Regional Chair for Durham Region, discuss mental health and our hospital’s efforts to secure funding to build Canada’s first ever emergency psychiatric unit. The proposed Emergency Psychiatric Assessment Treatment and Healing Units (known as EmPATHs) Ontario Shores wants to bring to Durham Region has a proven track record of transforming mental health outcomes in hospitals across the United States.
