To begin, I'd like to invite you to Ontario Shores' Virtual Interview Event on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, from 2 to 6 p.m., as we look to fill several positions in the organization as we work to meet the demand for mental health services. Registrants will have the opportunity to attend information sessions on professional development and career paths, as well as on-the-spot interviews with hiring managers and peer-to-peer discussions.

Personally, I hope everyone interested in starting or continuing a career in healthcare considers Ontario Shores.

My journey in healthcare has been extremely rewarding.

For the past 15 years, I have also been a national and international surveyor with Accreditation Canada, which has afforded me the opportunity to be a team leader for on-site surveys, provide education for organizations, and get involved in the orientation and mentorship of new surveyors.

The experience of getting an inside look into hospitals in different parts of the country and the world has further strengthened my belief in the places I have called home during my career.

That’s especially true when it comes to Ontario Shores.

There’s something special here, and it’s both unique and inspiring.

During my time at Ontario Shores, I have held several positions, but most recently I was named interim Vice-President of Practice, Academics and Chief Nursing Executive. I am proud to help the organization in any way I can, but I am particularly grateful to be leading the nurses at Ontario Shores.

Ontario Shores has a remarkable nursing program. Every day, this is a group that inspires each other and everyone around them. Aside from providing excellent care, they go above and beyond to ensure that their patients, families, and coworkers have everything they need to succeed.

When the pandemic hit and our patients were facing food insecurity in the community, they teamed up with their colleagues in the hospital and the community to deliver food and personal care items to those in need.

When patients were struggling and unable to visit with loved ones, they arranged Zoom calls and FaceTime for them so they could connect with family members.

What’s also great about Ontario Shores is that the commitment to excellence extends beyond the nursing station. Whether it is IT, Facilities, Nutrition and Food Services, EVS, or any other role in the hospital, people care and they want to create the best and safest possible environment for everyone at Ontario Shores.

I’d be remiss if I did not mention that Ontario Shores was among select organizations named one of Greater Toronto's Top Employers for 2022 following a competition that evaluated employers on several criteria, including work atmosphere, vacation benefits, training and development, financial and health benefits, physical environment, and community involvement. It was the sixth consecutive year that Ontario Shores has been named a GTA Top Employer.

Without question, there is a sense of community at Ontario Shores that is unique and special. I hope you register for our event and learn more about what it means to be part of the Ontario Shores family.
