Willow and Aspen

Volunteers

Meet the dynamic duo of Willow and her beloved golden retriever Aspyn.

The two have been volunteering at Ontario Shores since 2017 and have contributed hundreds of hours.

Volunteering originally started as a way for Willow and Aspyn to spend time together and give back but it soon become something more than that.

When speaking with Willow she shared that “seeing the way the patients interact with Aspyn and the joy it brings them is something I wasn’t anticipating. You can see their eyes light up and a sense of calm and delight overcome them when they are with Aspyn”. Pet therapy has been shown to have various benefits to patients such as reducing stress, lifting sprits and stimulating engaging conversations.
