COVID-19:  Screening, updates and safety protocols:

James Jefferson

James Jefferson
Role
Police Officer, Advocate

James Jefferson is a 14-year police service veteran and the current Wellness Coordinator Officer with the Greater Sudbury Police Service.

After being involved in a fatal shooting early on in his career, James endured the fall-out of P.T.S.D. James continued to work; suffering in silence while being promoted to detective into Drug Enforcement Unit.  After years of suppression and hiding in plain sight, trauma forced James off work for a period of more than three years. Through his tireless work ethic, James was able to heal from his trauma and return to policing and transform his P.T.S.D into purpose by becoming a mental health advocate in supporting and inspiring others to persevere and overcome their own mental health hardships.

James is a graduate from Laurentian University with a Bachelor of Arts in Law and Justice & Psychology. James is also the recipient of the Canada Beyond the Blue Darius Garda Award for sharing his heroic story.
